This is the official player’s page of Michael Georgiou…….
I first started playing snooker at the age of 9 years old and immediately fell in love with the game. As I grew older and worked harder at my game, I begun to compete in the junior competitions gaining valuable experience and begun to realised that i wanted to turn this passion into a career.
My first major achievement was winning the 2007 IBSF World under 21 snooker championships held in Goa, India. I earned my professional status through this achievement and competed on the 08/09 World Snooker Tour, but found things a lot tougher than i ever imagined and i failed to win a single match throughout the entire year which was a major blow to my self-belief and confidence. After losing my status as a professional, I tried to continue but the drive was not there.
I took 3 years out of the game without picking up the cue, however I kept my eye on the sport as it was developing into the success it is today. I decided it was time to return to the game bringing valuable life experience that I had gained during those 3 years out.
I discovered Frames Academy in Coulsdon, Surrey, this would be the base for my career thereafter. Having these facilities available has done wonders for me and now I am playing better than I ever could have imagined for which I am very grateful for. For the first time ever, I felt part of the sport.
Practising the amount, I do, I discover many things with my technique and even the equipment I use. I have always used a John Parris cue as in my eyes, he is the best in the world, and I know there are many people who agree with me on this. The tip I used all my life was an elk master, for me it was an amazing tip that did everything I wanted to do with the cue ball. The only issue I had with this was that the tip didn’t hold its shape long enough and every time I miscued, a chunk of it would come of it. I recently discovered the TSF tip through Cuesports.club and I am extremely pleased with it. It holds the same aspects and values of a top-quality tip, but lasts twice as long whilst keeping its shape. I would highly recommend this product to any cue sports player regardless of their level of expertise.
